Egg chop is a delicious and popular snack in such countries like Bangladesh, Malaysia and India which is considered also as a favorite dish especially among youth communities.
Easy Homemade Egg Potato Chopped Recipe Ingredients
Egg Chop Recipe Ingredients:
Eggs: 4 large pcs and hard-boiled.
Potatoes: 2 large pcs boiled and mashed.
Onion: 1 medium pc and finely chopped.
Green Chilies: 2 - 3pcs and finely chopped adjusting to taste.
Ginger & Garlic Paste: 1 teaspoon.
Coriander Leaves: A handful and finely chopped.
Turmeric Powder: 1 - 2 teaspoons.
Red Chili Powder: 1 - 2 teaspoons adjusting to own taste.
Garam Masala Powder: 1 - 2 teaspoons ( special spice ).
Salt: According to taste.
Breadcrumbs: 1 cup for coating.
Cooking Oil: As needed for frying.
Simple Egg Chop Recipe Instructions
Eggs Preparation:
Boil the eggs until they are hard-boiled then peel them once boiled and cut each egg into halves or quarters lengthwise then set aside.
Filling Preparation:
Heat a tablespoon of oil in a pan over medium heat then add chopped onions with green chilies and keep doing saute them together until onions turn translucent.
Afterward add ginger-garlic paste and keep doing saute again for a while until the raw smell disappears then add turmeric powder, red chili powder and salt mixing them gently into others.
Now add mashed potatoes and mix everything together, cooking for about 2 - 3 minutes until the mixture comes together then add garam masala powder and chopped coriander leaves mixing well and remove from heat letting it cool down slightly.
Egg Chop Assembling:
Take a portion of the potato mixture in your hand and flatten it, placing a piece of boiled egg in the center and wrap the potato mixture around it, shaping into an oval or round chop.
Coating & Frying:
Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat meanwhile taking breadcrumbs in a plate to roll each prepared chop in breadcrumbs until coated evenly.
Depending on the size of your pan gently slide the prepared chops a few at a time into the oil once the oil is hot and keep frying until they turn golden-brown and crispy on all sides.

Serving:
Remove the egg chops using a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil once they are fried as well.
After a little while, serve hot with ketchup, mint chutney or any dipping sauce of your choice.
Tips:
1. Make sure the boiled potatoes are dried before mashing to avoid a watery potato mixture.
2. Adjust the spiciness by varying the amount of green chilies and red chili powder.
3. You can also add a pinch of chaat masala or fresh lemon juice and amchur (dry mango powder) to the potato mixture for an extra tangy flavor.
